MegaCon
Sunday, February 20, 2005 11:48 AM

If you're within driving or even [for you adventurous types] flying distance of Orlando, Florida, you may want to head over next weekend to MegaCon.

MegaCon is always one of the South's biggest conventions. And this year will be no exception. With well over 100 guests [including movie / tv celebrities and comic book artists / publishers] and programing which includes: autograph sessions, panels on everything from breaking in to the comic business to what's on the horizon in the world of movies, gaming sessions, auctions, an indie film expo... and so much more.

Of course I'm looking to meet up with friends that I usually only get to see at conventions as well as some of my favorite comic creators. If you're able to make it, look for the guy in the StalloneZone shirt. Odds are it'll be me or at least someone who can direct you in my direction.

Desperado - Talented Folks & Exciting Projects
Saturday, February 19, 2005 5:21 PM

Some folks have been saying that the comic industry
is dying for longer than many of you have been around. I
first heard this in the mid-70's. I heard it again in the early
80's
and again in the mid-90's.

Joe Pruett's heard these grumblings too. Funny thing,
though. Last year Joe went out and rounded up some
of the best writers and artists and brought them
together to create comics for his Deperado Publishing company.

You say you haven't heard of Deperado Publishing? You will.

Just look at some of the people Joe's already signed up: Brian Bolland,
P. Craig Russell
, Tony Harris, Cully Hamner, Bernie Wrightson, Andrew
Robinson
, Amanda Conner, Phil Hester...

And look at some of the projects that are in the wings:

So the next time someone says comics are dying, send 'em over to
Desperado's site. They'll see that comics are still kickin'.

Every Time I Talk to Liston
Saturday, February 19, 2005 9:47 AM

Amos “Scrap Iron” Fletcher is a fighter on the decline. Most of his earnings come from work as a sparring partner. So when he loses the biggest fight of his career [in Vegas!], and his boxing license is suspended because of lies, Scrap Iron is left with a choice... walk away in disgrace or figure out a plan to gain back his reputation and career.

Every Time I Talk to Liston, Brian DeVido's first novel is a winner. DeVideo, a former Golden Gloves heavyweight champion, knows the boxing world. More importantly, he's an excellent writer. I hated to see Every Time I Talk to Liston end.

If "Scrap Iron" and crew come back for a rematch, I'll be ringside!

Sin City Website Goes Live
Wednesday, February 16, 2005 6:16 PM

The Sin City website went live today. It's got a lot of cool areas with more to come.

I'd tell you more, but why not just go have a look around?

You never know who you might bump into in Sin City. If you see a guy in a StalloneZone shirt, odds are, it's me.

Steve Niles is Talking 30 Days of Night
Sunday, February 13, 2005 10:50 AM
Steve Niles, the multi-talented writer of such modern horror classics as 30 Days of Night; Dark Days, Wake the Dead, The Nail [co-written with Rob Zombie] and my personal favorite Guns, Drugs and Monsters has a really nice interview that you can read HERE.
