Cobra Statue

SZoner, PJK sent in photos of the custom made Cobra statue that he created. It never ceases to surprise me, the amount of talented Stallone fans that we have at the StalloneZone!

PJK even created a custom made Cobra base for the statue.

His attention to detail is evident in this close up. PJK is a regular on the StalloneZone message boards. Be sure to let him know how cool this piece is... who knows, maybe we'll see more in the future! - Craig

More on the Cameo

In a very nice article at The Times of India, Sajid Nadiadwala, the producer of the Bollywood movie that will feature Sylvester Stallone in a cameo, says this about Sly:
  • “It was the highpoint of my career to have the iconic Sylvester Stallone being called for a shot on my film set.”

  • “I couldn’t believe the research Stallone had done on Bollywood.

  • “I met him at his house and my designer Sabina Khan did his fittings there. We had problems with his size, so Stallone produced costumes he had worn in Rocky and Rambo, and we decided to let him wear his own suit for a sequence showing the Oscar Awards.”

Judge Dreed Remembered

Robert Saucedo writes a piece about "forgotten" super-hero movies for The Eagle.com. His first choice was "Judge Dredd" and here's what he has to say:

Judge Dredd (1995)

Who wears the spandex: Sylvester Stallone.

What it's about: Based on the British comic-book character who first appeared in the anthology 2000 A.D., Judge Dredd takes place in a dystopian future in which law and order is kept by militaristic judges who act as police, jury and executioner. Of them, the most feared and respected is Judge Dredd (Stallone).

Comic book geek alert: "In the comic book series, part of the mystique surrounding Dredd is that he is never seen without his helmet, and if he does take it off, only his back or the lower part of his face is shown, BUT NEVER HIS ENTIRE FACE!!!!!!!!! ... Stallone should have known better. That's like Spider-Man doing his thing without the mask ... in public!!!!!!!" (ranting from a poster on imdb.com's movie forum).

Should you watch it? This is a fun popcorn flick that makes for an entertaining Saturday afternoon viewing. Just remember to check your brain at the door.

It's nice that Saucedo "gets it." You can see what other forgotten heroes he remembers by clicking here. - Craig

SZoners Chance Meeting!

SZoner, Robert C. sent in the following: Hey Craig, I'm a long time Stallone Zone fan from Orlando, Fl. Last year I sent in the picture of Frank Stallone and I holding the signed Jakks Frank Stallone figure. I've been out in Hollywood, California for a couple days and who do I bump into while I'm out here. . .none other than the legendary Bill Pruitt! Bill was great! I bought a couple of portraits that have been featured in magazines, purchased by Sly himself and featured on Stallone Zone. Bill's art is amazing, he truly has a gift.
How cool is this chance meeting between East Coast and West Coast

Sly on M&F Cover

Craig,

I've been a long time reader of the Stallone Zone. I really appreciate all the effort you put into it, I read it every week. I just wanted to let you know that Rocky is in the latest issue of Muscle and Fitness. Here's a brief excerpt on the article: Reel Muscle Rocky training scenes are the gold standard in cinematic muscle, but we've ranked nine sequences that offer stiff competition. There's a picture of Rocky on the upper right of the magazine cover and more info on the Rocky training montages in the magazine. The website is muscleandfitness.com. Just wanted to pass it along. Keep up the great work!
Sincerely,
Jeff Farnham

Sly & Berlin Mayor

Reuters
Tue Jul 8, 9:32 PM ET

Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit (L) jokes with U.S. actor Sylvester Stallone during a reception at the town hall in this February 3, 2004 file photo. Some on the left think Wowereit might be the best hope to give the SPD a lift in the way Barack Obama's historic candidacy has helped boost the U.S. Democrats. Wowereit is the most popular elected leader in the SPD and the party's most charismatic national figure.

Sly #1 Choice

Today at Ottawasun.com, Kevin Williamson lists his choices for the "11 or so plumb roles for the toughest, gristliest actors Hollywood can cough up" in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards." Williamson's number one choice: Sylvester Stallone. Here's what he had to say about Sly:

"Sylvester Stallone: The man ingests human growth hormone like other people drink Tang. Bonus: He's riding high on a mini-comeback thanks to Rocky Balboa and this year's splatter-ific Rambo."

Williamson's other choices include: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gary Busey, Ernest Borgnine, Dennis Hopper, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Mickey Rourke, R. Lee Emery, Michael Madsen and John Travolta. You can read the full piece HERE. - Craig
