Rocky Fan Tat

Dear Craig,

My name is Adam Proctor and I've been a Stallone fan since I learned how to walk. I love the Rocky movies and always wanted to see one in theaters. I was stationed in Afghanistan when the new Rocky came out in December, but luckily got to catch it in a small little run down theater. So I did get my big chance in a little place to see my favorite character. I recently got this tattoo and hoped you would post it on your page. I've been loyal to your page since it started in 96 . I check in every Sunday. Thanks Craig....

Digital Spy Scores

The Digital Spy has posted up two items of interest to Stallone fans.

In the first, Sly defends the level of violence in "Rambo" saying, "As horrific and bloody as you think the film is, I don't, because that's what war is." He goes on to add, "Gratuitous violence is a guy dressed up in a fright wig with a meat cleaver chasing ten teenagers around the woods for ten hours. That's gratuitous, this [
Rambo] is war. And civil war is by far the most vicious of all wars." Click HERE to read the full post.

In the second Sly discusses the film that bothered him the most: "I think the biggest mistake I ever made was with the sloppy handling of
Judge Dredd. I thought that could have been a fantastic, nihilistic, interesting vision of the future - judge, jury and executioner. That [film] really bothered me a great deal." Sly goes on to talk about characters that he'd like to re-visit: "I think Cobra could have been kind of interesting on a certain level only because I always saw him as Bruce Springsteen with a badge! That character would've been nice to go back to." Sly also "added that he wouldn't mind going to see if Sheriff Freddy Heflin, the character he played in James Mangold's Cop Land, 'lived happily ever after'." For the full piece click HERE.

Sly opens the door for some very interesting possibilities. Especially if Mangold joined him. - Craig

Party @ Adrian's

Craig,
I am a diehard Stallone Fan. In three weeks I will be celebrating my 50th birthday with friends and family at The Victor Cafe in Philadelphia. Home of Adrian's restaurant in the Rocky Balboa movie. In preparation I have been working out with a trainer for several years and lost 25 lbs. over the last three months. My Rocky playlist is always running on my iPod while I am on the treadmill. I see you have posted other fans pictures on the site. How would you like to post my invitation on the site? I'm hoping Stallone will see it and show up for dinner and dessert with us. Open invite to Sly to attend if he is in the area. I understand he ate there regularly during the filming of the movie.
Invite attached.
Thanks
Joe

Sly Signs 2-Film Deal

Gregg Goldstein of The Hollywood Reporter, in a story published today, announced that Sly has signed "a lucrative deal to direct and star in two action films with his 'Rambo' producers Danny Dimbort, Avi Lerner and Trevor Short of Nu Image/Millennium Films." Several scripts are being considered and the ones selected are expected to be fast-tracked into production.

Sly
was quoted as saying: "The past year and a half of working with Avi, his partners Danny and Trevor and his film family has been nothing but a high point for me and my career and an extremely rewarding experience," Stallone said. "Avi is a real gentleman and a man of his word."

David Morrell Reviews Rambo

David Morrell is the best selling author who created the character of Rambo in his novel First Blood. Although it was never his intent for Rambo to live past that tale, Mr. Morrell was involved with the production and wrote novelizations for Rambo II and Rambo III. In between and after Mr. Morrell went on to write many more excellent novels in several genres. He is definitely not a one trick pony. So I was disappointed when I learned that he wouldn't be involved in the production of "Rambo."

After seeing "Rambo" I was pleased to note that David Morrell prominently received credit [twice] for creating the character . Still, I wondered what Mr. Morrell thought about the new movie. I hoped he enjoyed it. He did. In fact you can read his review here. [And for those of you who wondered about my review -- Mr. Morrell summed it up for me better than I could.] Now if only David Morrell would write a novelization of "Rambo" or even other stories... - Craig

SZoner @ Rambo Premiere

Katy writes:

Hi Craig.

I wrote to you some time ago about the premiere. I'm also a super fan and did research and made it to Vegas for the red carpet!! They gave away a plethora of Rambo souvenirs (Including Rambo cookies) which were all free and fantastic! I'm thrilled that i saw my idol. I never expected I would do so.

Since people were sending their pics in I would be honored to be shown in my old school Rambo shirt at the premiere and am sending my pic of Sly too!

SZoner Meets Sly

Hello Craig,

My name is Jarred. I am a loyal StalloneZoner. I check every Sunday. These are exciting times for us Stallone fans. I went to the red carpet premiere for my B-day. We stayed at Planet Hollywood, and the red carpet was so packed and when Stallone finally showed up 5 minutes before they were gonna start the movie his people rushed him past all the fans. So I was highly disappointed but happy to be there. So the next morning we went to breakfast at a very good coffee shop in the casino. They sat us next to a large table, where Sly's mom was sitting. There was a few open seats at her table, my girlfriend suggested that he might show up. 2 minutes later he did. He sat for breakfast 4 feet from me, I could not believe it. His wife, kids and entourage were seated on the other end of the coffee shop. So he made a few trips back and forth. I snagged him one of the times. And got my prized picture!

Congrats and thanks for sharing your photo and experience! - Craig
