Sly Charged

On March 13th in Sydney, Australia, Sly was formally charged with attempting to bring 48 vials of a muscle-building hormone into the country. Sly’s lawyers represented him in court where he faces one charge of importing a banned substance. Sly was not required to attend the hearing.

The prosecution presented documents which stated that Sly had marked "No" on a customs declaration card indicating that he was not bringing into Australia any restricted or prohibited goods "such as medicines, steroids, firearms, weapons, or any kind of illicit drugs." An X-ray of bags among his entourage led to a search that found the 48 vials of the human growth hormone product. Human Growth Hormone is officially considered a performance enhancing drug in Australia and cannot be brought into the country without a permit from the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

The case has been adjourned until April 24th. At that time Sly’s lawyers will enter a plea on his behalf. The maximum penalty could be a fine up to $86,000 and five years in prison, but according to all reports Sly is unlikely to face the maximum penalty and no prison time.
