Actor Sylvester Stallone starts the U.S. journey of the Olympic torch from the edge of the Pacific Ocean in Venice Beach in Los Angeles Wednesday, June 16, 2004, after the flame arrived from Mexico.

Los Angeles hosted the Summer Games in 1932 and 1984.
