Sylvester Stallone gives a pep talk for about a hundred would-be boxing TV stars at an open casting call for a new reality television series, 'The Contender,' at the La Brea Gym in Los Angeles, Tuesday, May 25, 2004. His brother Frank, left rear, a veteran of more than 40 amateur bouts, is a boxing consultant for the show. Sylvester Stallone is a co-executive producer of the show, in which thousands of boxing hopefuls will be winnowed down to 16, who will then move from training camp through an evolving series of ring challenges and boxing matches over 16 episodes, with the final victor claiming a $1 million prize. The competition begins in mid-summer, with the series scheduled to air beginning in January, 2005, on NBC. (AP Photo/Reed Saxon)
